What format and sizes are the photos?
All American Picture Gallery photos are in JPEG format. We offer three file sizes under our Royalty Free Licensing program for each image: High Quality, Medium Quality and Web Quality. The file sizes range from 3000 pixels down to 600 pixels measured from the longest side. We also offer larger size files of specific images under our Rights Managed licensing program.
How soon will I be able to download my JPEG's?
Because of fraud and piracy all our credit card & PayPal orders are reviewed before they are approved. Most orders will be approved almost instantly and you will have access to download the files you have purchased although in some cases there may be a 2-8 hour waiting period while our staff reviews the order. In rare cases there may be a 24-48 hour period while our credit card processor reviews the transaction. Money order payments ship immediately. Checks payments ship after the check clears usually 3-5 days.
How do I download my images?
After payment is received you will be sent an email with a link to our download page. Click the link and it will take you to a page where all your purchased downloads are located. Just click the thumbnail image or the link next to it and you will be asked to either open the file or to save it. Click save and save it to your computer hard drive. You can then open the file with your default graphics or photo editing program.
Please keep in mind that if you order more than one file size of the same image you must rename the second download before saving it. All file sizes of the same image have the same file number when downloaded. The second size must be renamed before saving so it has a unique file number different from the first. If you don't rename the second download before saving, it will overwrite the first download. Also if you purchase the Highest Quality file size, you do not need to purchse any smaller size downloads of that particular image, since you can produce any smaller sizes from the High Quality file.
What are your shipping and handling charges?
We combine shipping charges and they are based on the total amount of your order. We ship using the United States Postal Service 1st class and priority mail. International items ship Airmail 1st class.
The shipping price ranges are shown below. Insurance is an additional $1.50 USD and optional but recomended, since we can't be responsible for lost or damaged items unless insurance is purchased. International buyers please add $3.00 USD to each shipping price range below.

What form of payment do you accept?
Check & Money Order Payments
Customers paying with a check or money order will receive their prints, photo cd's or downloads after the payment has been received in the mail and the funds have cleared. Please mail your payment to the address at the bottom of your online invoice.
Charge Cards & PayPal
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, ECheck or AMEX through the secure server at PayPal. Your prints and photo cd's will be prepared and shipped within 2-3 business days. JPEG downloads are usually approved almost instantly and you will have access to download the files you have purchased, although in some cases there may be a 2-8 hour waiting period while our staff reviews the order.
What is the Lightbox?
The Lightbox is a special area where you can save your favorite images from American Picture Gallery. All of your favorites appear on one page. You can return to them at any time. Plus, you can e-mail your Lightbox to friends so they can enjoy the pictures! The Lightbox is a special free feature, available when you register with us.
How do I gain access to a private gallery?
To enter a private gallery you must sign up for a free account and then email us requesting access and we will send you a password. We do this because there is adult content in some of the private galleries.
Do you offer free downloads?
Yes. As a way of saying thanks to our terrific customers we offer free downloads. You must sign up for a free account and then you will be sent a password that allows access to our free download gallery. Just click the free photos link on the main menu and you will be taken to the latest free images. The photos are absolutely free for any personal or educational use. They are not to be used for any commercial use or to be redistributed or sold in any type of digital form. We only ask that you visit some of the advertisers who's links are placed around our site, so that we can recoup some of the costs of offering these high quality free photo's. Enjoy!
Do you add photos on a regular basis?
Yes. We are constanly adding pictures to the site as they are produced. Click on "Newest Photos" to see the latest photos that we have posted.
Can I submit photos to sell?
At the present time, we only offer photos taken by American Picture Gallery and it's partners. In the future we may consider this.
Do you offer refunds?
Once your purchase is made we can not offer a refund. The reason for this policy is because we offer full access to our entire digital collection of photos and as such, there is no way for our products to be returned. On a rare occasion we will make exceptions on a case by case basis. We do offer refunds or exchanges on photo cd's or prints that are damaged in shipping if insurance is purchase.
Are there any restrictions on my use of the American Picture Gallery photos that I download?
Yes. While American Picture Gallery offers great freedoms and a wide ranges of uses, we do not allow copying and redistribution of our photos in digital form, or allow the use of our photos within products that are mass distributed in any type of archive format. For a detailed list of authorized uses and prohibitions visit our licensing page.
Is account sharing allowed?
No, sharing an account is no different than distributing our materials to others. Individual accounts must be purchased by your friends and colleagues.
